May Love Light The Way
This time I did not grieve.
Teeth gently loosen their grip on my tongue.
I find grief, but not for the same reasons as before.
Because this time, I know it isn’t personal.
You deserve to exist.
You deserve to feel safe.
You deserve to know love.
You deserve to have faith.
You deserve to build community.
You deserve to know peace.
You deserve a sweet life,
And a gentle release,
From the bonds tightly formed…
In a time not our own.
You deserve to be here.
In this place, that’s your home.
The American people are fighting their demons - pain, and shame, conveniently scapegoated onto the other. Fear seemingly conquered with control.
It is a tortured fight, but it is not a personal one.
Hold on to your faith.
Hold on to your love.
Hold on to the truth.
You belong on this Earth.
You deserve to be here.
Hold on to each other.
May love light the way.
