We are more than we’ve been taught.

We’ve become something we’re not.

We hold healing in our bones,

The first peoples casting stones—

When we could just be a home for each other.

What if we could love each other?

See ourselves in one another?

Healing has come for the Mother.

Ethiopia;

You have children scattered across the globe

Waiting to see if you can be more

Than the governments who claim to hold us

Or was home never love, too?

Ethiopia, Ethiopia;

We are watching you.

I align with the sunshine

I align with the trees

I am held by the wide sky

I am loved by the breeze

When they call us “difficult”
Really what they mean

Clarity resets me
And love will light the way

My Soul whispers, awake;

Pointing reckless fingers right at you and me- angry at the ways that our humanity copes with this calamity.
Absent responsibility where does that leave us?

And so here too this space of mine

Began to resemble the world I had run from

The spaces I had hoped to leave behind

The stars embrace the moon
As you rise.
