Choosing to Meet Ourselves
White supremacy is a lie that sustains itself on the belief of itself. It is a fiction. Being able to see this paradigm clearly is necessary to understanding our power within it. Our power is not something we were ever meant to search for externally. It cannot be found in the hall ways of institutions built on the promise to keep us powerless. To ask for it to be validated is to forget what it is — and we have been conditioned to forget. Because the truth is that a power that relies on our “powerlessness” was a never a power at all.
Because the truth is that in our presence the fiction of supremacy has no choice but to shatter.
We are all being called to define ourselves and to me that practice comes from choosing to meet ourselves. Choosing to meet our shadows, our wounds, and all the ways we have adapted to try and get our needs met both individually and collectively. Yet meeting ourselves also means meeting the part of ourselves that is so much bigger than all of it.
We are glory and we are glorious.
Move from the place within you that knows this to be true and let it change how you move.
